  1. Here’s a really good theology book on Soteriology: The Cross and Salvation: The Doctrine of Salvation (Foundations of Evangelical Theology) by Bruce Demarest. It does a good job of explaining various POV’s and then takes a close look at what Scripture says. It’s a book to go through slowly but is extremely informative (and a good reference)! [for when you finish Piper … only Beth could read two Piper books in a row … though I do strongly recommend his “The Swans are Not Silent” biography series (very interesting bios, quotes and quick reads): The Legacy of Sovereign Joy: God’s Triumphant Grace in the Lives of Augustine, Luther, and Calvin (The Swans Are Not Silent) (Grace), The Hidden Smile of God: The Fruit of Affliction in the Lives of John Bunyan, William Cowper, and David Brainerd (The Swans Are Not Silent, 2) (Affliction), The Roots of Endurance: Invincible Perseverance in the Lives of John Newton, Charles Simeon, and William Wilberforce (Swans Are Not Silent) (Perseverance) and Contending for Our All: Defending Truth and Treasuring Christ in the Lives of Athanasius, John Owen, and J. Gresham Machen (Piper, John, Swans Are Not Silent)]
